Who the sh*t is James Sunderland?

I’m not your typical Creative Director.
Didn’t go to ad school. Didn’t climb a big agency ladder.

I built a hot sauce company in my 20s, hustled to get it in stores, on podcasts, and eventually sold it. Launched a men’s underwear brand (Nuts & Butts) that got shut down by a cease-and-desist. Then ran organic and paid social for brands, driving millions in spend across Facebook and YouTube.

I was the fifth hire at an agency that scaled from a handful of people to 50+. I managed thousands of campaigns, hundreds of creative deliverables every month, and millions in revenue. Grew the team, built the process, and kept the chaos from going nuclear.

I’m an effectiveness evangelist, obsessed with results that make a dent (measurable outcomes), not just activity that looks good on a slide. I believe creative, strategy, and account management should sit at the same lunch table, swap snacks, and solve problems together.

I’m optimistic in the way only someone who’s been punched in the face by a startup can be (think hockey player mugshot grinning after a fight). I hate sports but love locker-room speeches, because teamwork is the only way to make the dream work.

I’ve got a learn-it-all mindset, and I believe the fastest way to level-up is by putting in time, after hours.

So no, I’m not your typical Creative Director or Marketer. I’m a hybrid who’s lived performance, learned top-tier strategy and effectiveness, and knows how to translate it all into creative vision that moves teams, audiences, and the bottom line.

I’m also the guy clients say, “We love James, he totally gets it.”

Now enough about me. How are you? Tell me everything.
